Is there anyone who should not drink Yakult? Any individuals that experience allergies to cow’s milk protein or those with sensitivity to citrus should not drink Yakult. |

Is Yakult suitable for people with diabetes? Yes. People with diabetes can enjoy Yakult and Yakult LIGHT as part of a healthy diet. Despite the amount of sugar in Yakult and Yakult LIGHT (refer Nutrition section), the type of sugar used enters the blood gradually and does not significantly increase blood glucose levels. This means that both products have a low Glycaemic Index (GI). |

Is Yakult beneficial for people taking antibiotics? When taking a course of antibiotics, some of the beneficial bacteria in the digestive system may be destroyed. The resulting imbalance of the intestinal flora may result in problems such as thrush or diarrhoea. Drinking Yakult with its unique strain of bacteria has shown to be most helpful in re-establishing a balance of beneficial bacteria in the digestive system during antibiotic treatment. |

Should I finish drinking Yakult after I finish my antibiotics? No. As antibiotics destroy both the harmful and beneficial bacteria, it is even more important to continue drinking Yakult upon completion of the course of antibiotics to replenish the numbers of beneficial bacteria. |

Is Yakult suitable for babies and children? Yes. Children 12 months and older can have a bottle of Yakult per day. Children love the fruity taste and it is both safe and beneficial for them. For inquiries relating to children younger than 12 months of age, please contact us. |

Is Yakult suitable for pregnant and breast-feeding women? Yes. Yakult is safe to drink during pregnancy. It contains one type of bacteria only - Lactobacillus casei Shirota strain, so there is no risk of listeriosis which is caused by the Listeria strain of bacteria. Constipation and indigestion (acid reflux) are common during pregnancy, and we have received a lot of positive feedback from people commenting on the relief that drinking Yakult has provided in maintaining a balanced intestinal microflora. |

Is Yakult suitable for those with lactose intolerance? Yes. People with lactose intolerance are unable to properly digest large quantities of lactose. Lactose is the natural sugar found in milk and milk products. Yakult and Yakult LIGHT contain approximately 1.0g of lactose. |

Is Yakult gluten free? Yes. Yakult and Yakult LIGHT are wheat and gluten free and are therefore suitable for individuals with Coeliac Disease and those requiring a gluten free diet. The dextrose used is derived from corn, not wheat. |
